Hindi has been taught at the University of Texas for over four decades, and the program has expanded greatly in recent years.  We have also developed an Urdu program to further complement our Hindi offerings. In addition, students in Hindi can take advantage of the Classical India program, which is anchored by four distinguished Sanskritists, and there are also courses on South Indian culture and language study in Tamil and Malayalam.  For graduate students, financial aid includes Foreign Language Area Scholarships (FLAS), University Fellowships, Meyerson awards, and Teaching Assistantships. For undergraduates there are Summer Study Abroad scholarships and the Mahatma Gandhi scholarship.
