Japan's foreign policy and other materials

We received a copy of "Japan's foreign policy on CD-Rom, January 1992-March 1995" from the Consulate-General of Japan in Houston. In additon to major articles and speeches by key Japanese government officials, the CD includes Jap an's stance on variety of domestic and international issues. Japan's relations with other countries are also explored in detail. The CD-rom will be cataloged and made available at PCL. You can also get the latest information on foreig n policy of Japan through the Internet. The URL of the Ministry is:

I know many students are using online databases and Internet for their research. A good summary of citation style is found at:

as Electronic Citation Style Manuals. The main menu links with other WWW sites and includes references to printed sources.

ATLA Religion Database on CD-ROM in PCL Reference
We have a test CD-ROM of the ATLA Religion Database on computer #2 in PCL Reference. We will probably place a subscription for this, and buy the backfile, but we are currently "in test." It includes the Religion Index (book chapters, periodicals), Index to Book Reviews in Religion, and 2 other databases. Some of the data is available from 1949. I expect this to be very useful for Asian Studies, and it will allow more complicated searching than the paper edition. We hope to make the Religion Index available on the CD-ROM network at some point, but there are no empty drives for now.
