is a study of the politics of hate.
Set in Gujarat, India between February 2002 and July 2003,
the film examines the aftermath of the deadly violence
that followed the burning of 58 Hindus on the Sabarmati
Express train at Godhra on February 27, 2002.

Girija Devi, a living legend at 75, is one of India’s leading classical vocalists and the doyenne of the Benares Gharana (stylistic community). Her vast repertoire includes the classical genre khyal, as well as her specialties, the lyrical thumri-dadra, the lightning-fast tappa, the charming seasonal song types from her native Benares, and the movingly spiritual bhajan. Calling her a "Hindustani diva,” the Chicago Tribune has compared the finesse and emotional intensity of Girija Devi’s performance to that of jazz stalwarts such as Ella Fitzgerald.
