Write On! by the Computer Curriculum Corporation (CCC)
Write On! is an interdisciplinary project for middle school students that can be done by itself or as an extension to Shapes Around the World. In Write On! students use the Web to explore a region of the world and learn about some of the symbols of its cultures. Architecture, foods, and arts are just a few of the sources for cultural symbols. Students use the writing process to write a 200- word cultural piece describing how an object is symbolic of the region. This cultural piece is then published on the Web for other students to read.
Write On! has five major parts: 1) Go On a Cultural Dig - Students take a journey to sites on the World Wide Web to explore the symbols of a region. 2) Dig More with Web Tools - Popular search tools help students find information on the World Wide Web. 3) Write Your Cultural Piece - Students follow the five steps of the writing process to write their cultural pieces. 4) Publish Your Piece on a Web Page - Here, students' input their cultural pieces so that they can be published on a web page. 5) View The Electronic Web Wall - This is the showcase of all the cultural pieces written by students from around the world.

The Pluarlism Project: Harvard University (Teacher Resources)
The Pluralism Project was developed by Diana L. Eck at Harvard University to study and document the growing religious diversity of the United States, with a special view to its new immigrant religious communities. In the past thirty years, the religious landscape of the U.S. has changed radically. There are Islamic centers and mosques, Hindu and Buddhist temples and meditation centers in virtually every major American city. The encounter between people of very different religious traditions takes place in the proximity of our own cities and neighborhoods. How Americans of all faiths begin to engage with one another in shaping a positive pluralism is one of the most important questions American society faces in the years ahead.
