The Outreach program sponsors seminars and teacher workshops during the course of the year as well as summer institutes for teachers. Participants may receive stipends and modest travel assistance for workshops and institutes. Both workshop and seminar topics range from political conflicts to cultural traditions. Workshop topics are designed with TEKS requirements in mind.

The four national resource centers at the University of Texas at Austin will host a four-day institute that will examine ways world conflict can be presented in K-12 classrooms. This summer institute is designed for middle and high school teachers of history, geography, politics, cultures, civics and social studies. See link for more details.
Presenting and Re-presenting Islam: Teaching and Studying about Islam in the United States
March 21 and 22, 2002
This workshop will begin with an examination of the ways and means to teach about Islam in the public school classroom. Following this, there will be in-depth presentations and discussions on topics including: how Islam is presented in popular media, Islam in the United States, gender and Islam and issues of pluralism.
Considering the Place of Buddhist Traditions Across Asia

The tenth annual Thyagaraja Aradhana will be a two-day event celebrating Thyagaraja's life and music. The program will consist of lectures, mini-concerts and performances and will be held in the Art Building auditorium at UT Austin. For more details follow the link above.
Faith, Devotion and Worship: World Religions in Central Texas

The four NRC at UT hosted a two-day workshop for K-12 social studies teachers that addressed issues of faith, devotion, culture and identity in world societies. This interactive workshop was designed for middle and high school teachers of history, politics and literature.
