Views of the nature of truth:

1. correspondence (Russell, Nyaya)

A proposition p is true iff p corresponds to (or mirrors) the fact that p indicates

2. coherence (Taoism, Blanshard)

A proposition p is true iff p coheres with a large mass of other propositions

3. semantic (Tarski)

"Snow is white" is true iff snow is white

(X is true, where is X is the name of p, iff p)

4. pragmatic (Buddhists, William James)

A proposition p is true iff p is verifiable (through success in action).
